The Professional Development of Women's Libraries, Archives, Documentation Centres, and Information Centres As professional women's information services, it is important to develop the "tools of our trade". This track will address the development of tools like indexes for collections and information on Internet, new electronic resources, and providing effective information services.
Policy Decisions within the Collections Creating collections of and for women in rural, immigrant, and minority communities, lesbian archives, working with Indigenous knowledge, women's studies collections, and the "Virtual Library" are the themes of this track.
Women's Information as an Instrument for Policy-making Gathering and using women's information to influence governmental policies and implement the Beijing Platform for Action are important themes in this track, as is the role of our services in the protection of human rights.
Developing the Policy of Women's Information and Positioning Ourselves in the World of Information Services This track addresses the theory that guides the field of women's information. It explores this theory in the context of the actual collection and dissemination of women's information, including the forming of networks, the establishment and funding of information services, and the use of new technologies.
